Tadaaaa! Permanent Resident now, since that February interview. Thank God it was a breeze! We had Mr. Mason as our interviewer and he was kind and didn't give us a hard time. Our appointment was at 11:50 am, Feb 16, 2016 and we arrived at USCIS at around 11:00 am. We headed to the office at around 11:20 and found that there we quite a lot of people waiting in the second floor lobby. We got called anyways at around 12:15 pm and by 12:30 pm we were done.
We headed to our doctor's appointment after the USCIS interview. We were set to do a couple of medical and blood exams for today. QandA with the staff, blood works, and urine sample. From the first medical, nothing has been confirmed actually. We had to wait for a week to confirm the pregnancy.
February 26th, we met Dr. Schwab and yes, we saw le baby. That smallest thing enveloped by the sac or something. I promised to keep myself hydrated and full but the 6th and 7th week were the hardest for me. I did have morning sickness (I think...and still having it) but it gets better each week. I just worry that I am not eating as much fruits and veggies that my body needs. I hope that the prenatal can compensate for this. I am in my 8th week now, the baby should be the size of a kidney bean. According to the babycenter.com website:
How your baby's growing
New this week: Your baby's hands and feet are developing webbed fingers and toes, his eyelids almost cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about having a boy or a girl, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal your baby’s sex. (Try our Chinese gender predictor for an early guess!) Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.
I hope everything is developing normally. I feel guilty that I am not taking much care of the little one by not eating right. Although, it was mentioned that morning sickness is a sign that the baby is developing normally and that a pregnancy is a healthy one. I kept reminding myself that it's okay since it is for the baby. I just need to be fed at all times. Aja!
With the pregnancy and all, a lot has to be checked. Mainly, the medical and insurances. I got a call from our clinic and they mentioned that Martin's insurance only covers 40% of the delivery cost and labs I think, so it would cost us a great deal. She was too kind to suggest to seek help and try to apply for Washington Apple Health so we can at least get better benefits. So I did. I got approved for Apple Health Care and enrolled in UnitedHealthCare of Washington, Inc. I haven't called the health plan yet to confirm the coverage but I soon will.
Aside from the pregnancy updates, we also had a weekend spent in Oregon with the parentals. We'll be heading to SF come spring break for lola Luming's 90th celebration. We are currently taking care of the banner and the video.
Things in Manila are okay as well, I think. We just need to find some other means to earn more. Sigh this is tough.
